1. What is the DJ Associates Disc Jockey Association?

DJ Associates or 'DJ@' is a DJ only non-gimmicky online based disc jockey association established in 2005 and is independent.  The Association operates as a non-profit organisation.

Essentially, DJ Associates encourages its members to network, discuss DJ related topics and share DJ tips and advice for new and established services.

We invite you join DJ Associates and participate as an active volunteer, helping us promote the benefits of membership and to hi-light professionalism in our sector to the consumer, and the wide range of bodies and organisations in the Arts and Government.

No single DJ Association to date has been the one powerful and effective advocate for the whole profession, which is why DJ Associates welcomes member interaction to simply help us lobby the people who actually matter - on behalf of its members.

DJ Associates has represented members directly on industry related issues and will continue to act on the members behalf - to protect and promote the art of DJ'ing.

For example, there are many DJs across the UK not satisfied with the MCPS-PRS & PPL 'ProDub Licence' and the way it was introduced.  Member concerns were raised directly with the MCPS Chairman.  DJ Associates believes the current licence is extremely unfair and unenforceable.

Wedding DJs

Karaoke DJs

Including DJ performers who playback recorded music to:

beat mix

segue mix

In certain cases, performers who utilise recorded music as background music before and after main performance may be accepted for membership  Please contact the association for further information.

If you are a musician, we suggest joining the Musicians Union as they include musicians Public Liability Insurance in their membership.  They campaign on behalf of members to KEEP MUSIC LIVE!  The MU are 100% 'musician' orientated and provide great membership benefits for their musician members.

If you are an actor, why not join Equity? They have Public Liability Insurance cover and great benefits too!

If you are a DJ - you have a few more great choices!  You'll simply have to work out which package is the best option for you!  If you are considering obtaining DJ Public Liability Insurance, please have a look here first.

Public Liability Insurance cover is, in our opinion, quite essential if you're providing a hire service - it makes sense to be covered in the event of a claim!

DJ@ believes that it provides the best value for money membership which includes a Full DJ Public Liability Insurance policy bundled with association membership in the UK.

If you are a DJ hire service, ask your self, can you afford not to have liability cover?

Public Liability Insurance is not a legal requirement - but it makes good sense to be covered in the event of a claim!

In fact, one of our new members said that to have it - "it's a no-brainer!"

Whichever organisation you choose to join, holding a valid and current Public Liability Insurance policy is good practice and remember that venues set the level of Public Liability Insurance for a reason.  They can make a claim against you!

Rest assured, the Public Liability Insurance cover DJ@ has secured for its members is 100% for DJs:

Our policy key facts are available here.

Compared to other similar packages available, we know DJ@ is not the cheapest but we believe we offer great benefits as a DJ Association.

22. What is the Distance Selling Regulations?

The DSRs apply to a business if goods or services are sold without face-to-face contact with the consumer using an organised distance sale or service provision scheme, for instance, via the internet.

The DSRs say that consumers must be provided with clear information so that they can make an informed choice about whether or not they wish to buy from a goods or service provider. In most cases the goods or service provider  must also give consumers the right to a cancellation period.

Compliance with the DSRs is a legal requirement.
