Membership Card Example
Validator+ Online Validation - Validator+ Verify membership status and DJ Public Liability Insurance Cover and registrations from your business website via our unique online verification system. Website required.
DJ Associates registered members are helping fight against fraudulent use of Public Liability documents with Validator+. Written evidence is increasingly required by venues that the mobile DJ and entertainer is covered with PLI and PAT before they can perform. With this in mind, the association provides an online validation service called 'Validator+'. Once registered, members can add Validator+ HTML code to their business web site. A variety of image logos are available (see working example below)
Venues and potential clients visiting the registered members website can verify level of indemnity, Public Liability Insurance details, PAT details, additional services, media and licences held in just one click!
Validator+ has been enhanced to display the registered member on a virtual id card (digital photo).
Details include membership number, registrations, licences held.
Validator+ and membership card promotes confidence for the client or venue booking a registered DJ service:
Please click on the image below to see an example of Validator+ in action.
The DJ@ website is the information tool and resource for the DJ association featuring, but not limited to:
-free health & safety guides -free DJ advice guides -free TAX advice -free contract advice -free BPM listings
plus news, features and client advice guides
Members can also access the monthly updated E-Zine which includes music release news, marketing articles and more!
Public Liability Insurance Cover The DJ Public Liability Insurance cover DJ@ includes with membership is £10 million per member. No separate registration is required.
Note: Public liability is not a legal requirement - but it makes sense to have the cover in the event of a claim!
The policy provides an indemnity in respect of the member’s legal liability in respect of bodily injury third parties and damage to third party property, arising from the Insured’s business as ‘Disc Jockey including the dry hire of Audio & Visual DJ Equipment’, subject always to the terms, conditions and exclusions of the policy.
NOTE: FREE £250,000 legal defence costs are included with the policy.
Period of Insurance The period of the insurance policy runs for 12 months.
P.A.T. PAT (portable appliance test) is an advisory and not a requirement of DJ Association membership. Possession of a valid PAT would satisfy the insurance company in the event of a claim but lack of in itself would not automatically invalidate cover. Also, there is no restrictions under the policy to the type of equipment used (other than use of fire or pyrotechnics).

Although established in 2005, DJ Associates is now in its second year as a subscription based DJ Association.
The DJ Association is online based. Great benefits included with membership like DJ Public Liability Insurance are passed on at-cost.
Since becoming a subscription based DJ Association, 'DJ@' has introduced:
The DJ Association has secured discounts from third party suppliers including discounted equipment insurance, offered great competition prizes and exclusively provided DVD media from Mixmash (at the time worth £40.00!)
Whether offering contract advice or TAX advice, or articles on how to simply become a DJ, 'DJ@' encourages good business practice, continues to remain member focused and will seek further great benefits as the DJ Association expands.
In early 2009, the DJ Association commissioned a company to design and manufacture a free-standing DJ Booth for under £300.00.
Produced by Savill Cases, the DJ Booth offers a clean professional presentation for the disco set-up. The hard panels are lightweight and strong, trimmed in aluminium and available in other colours. The DJ Booth assembles in under two minutes!
In 2009, DJ Associates contributed to the Great Ormand Street Hospital charity and currently sponsors the DJsUnited online community forum and several non-profit sites.
Protecting and Promoting the Art of DJ'ing
Lobbying DJs who have assisted their fellow operators through the provision of relevant advice and guidance on community DJ forums may believe they are safeguarding the future development of the sector, but DJ forums do not collectively lobby and campaign.
Established DJ Associations have for years had the opportunity to lobby and influence decision makers within government, the arts, and other relevant areas but have they actually achieved anything to benefit the DJ sector as a whole in the last 30 years?
A DJ Association can only take a constructive lead on issues that matter via member input, so if you truly wish to ensure that YOUR concerns are heard by those who matter, join a DJ Association which is 100% member focused and have your say, because a DJ Association has to be driven by the needs of its membership: the individual practitioners and services, semi-professional and professional alike.
Everyone can do more to help safeguard the future development of the DJ profession if they truly want to. For starters, the profile of the profession can be raised with simple awareness of good business practice, but DJ@ strongly believes that only by speaking with one united voice can the DJ profession truly be heard, and respected.
The established sectors such as the acting profession and the music profession have single representation and legal representatives, however, the 'mobile DJ' profession which is very diverse, has no recognised representative voice on issues which have, or will have an impact.
Vision DJ Associates recognises that the mobile DJ sector must speak to organisations and government with one clear voice and in a language it understands. The value of the mobile DJ profession should be understood and recognised across all areas, including the arts.
DJ Associates aims to serve its members by providing them with the opportunity to unite and speak up for their profession with one powerful voice.
Ultimately, DJ Associates aims to provide a united voice for its members in the mobile dj sector, standing as an independent organisation, representing members of all diversity across the UK.
Helping others - making a difference Member subscriptions have not only helped the Association be an effective member focused organisation, but has allowed DJ Associates to collectively make a small but positive contribution to organisations such as Great Ormand Street Hospital. Isn't that wonderful?
Conclusion By becoming a member of the DJ Association, you would not only be receiving £10m DJ Public Liability Insurance and other great benefits, but you're actually helping others gain too.
DJ@ understands that fellow service providers have been trying to secure as many benefits for the 'DJ operator service' for years and years. We're just simply trying to do the same, small steps at a time, passing on major benefits at cost to the members whilst remaining committed to the membership 100% and not acting complacent.
